I am honoured and grateful to have been asked to participate in this very special project by Kim Stafford, former Poet Laureate of Oregon, and NEA Translation Fellow, Allison deFreese.
Kim penned “A Proclamation for Peace”, and the two decided to send it around the world to get translated into difference languages. As Kim says, "These translations are not an abstraction; they are a way to summon change by broadcasting a call for peace in all directions. The project has now become a global effort, with every world region represented."
You can read more about the project and some of the translated poems, including Danish, here in World Literature Today.
The book with all the translations will be published later this year.
